Here is an updated list and a recap of expected/rumored Leica cameras and lenses (see the previous reports here):
Leica Q3 is rumored for May/June 2023 with a 60MP sensor. With the new Q3, Leica will also reintroduce the “-E” branding for entry-level cameras. The new Leica Q-E will basically be the current Q2, etc (just like with the M9 and M-E).
Leica SL3 is rumored to be announced in late 2023 or 2024 with different megapixel resolutions. A silver Leica SL camera is a possibility.
Leica M11 Monochrom is rumored for the summer of 2023.
Leica M interchangeable lens camera with built-in EVF (Leica RM?) quote: “if there were sufficient demand, Leica would consider producing an M with EVF” (source). Don’t expect it to be released until the next generation of M cameras (M12?). In 2024 Leica is planning a major release for the next generation of M cameras to coincide with 70 years of the platform, so don’t expect anything major to be announced until next year (2024). Three cameras are rumored to be released in a variety of finishes, including one that has never been used before.
Rumored Leica lenses – more M lenses are expected to be announced in order to take full advantage of the new 60MP sensor:
- Leica Summicron-M 28mm f/2 ASPH “Reporter” limited-edition lens
- Refreshed Leica Summilux-M 50 f/1.4 ASPH lens
- The next APO lens will be a redesigned version of the current Leica APO-Summicron-M 90mm f/2 ASPH, expect it to be released before Summer of 2023
- Thanks to the success of their line of legacy lenses and the newly released Leica M6, the company is now considering new designs based on pre-M cameras but with M-mounts
Leica L-mount lens rumors:
- Leica 100-400mm lens for L-mount
- Leica 105mm lens for L-mount
- Leica 18-50mm lens for L-mount
- Leica teleconverter for L-mount
- Leica APO-Summicron-SL 21mm f/2 ASPH lens
- Leica APO-Summicron-SL 24mm f/2 ASPH lens
- Along with the next-generation SL cameras, Leica will introduce a budget line of zoom and prime lenses (previously reported here)
For the Leica M 70th-anniversary in 2024, Leica is expected/rumored to release the next generation of Leica watches. A new Leica L3 watch with a mechanical alarm complication is a possibility.
Leica mirrorless medium format camera is scheduled for production in 2025 (see the first picture of the camera prototype here).
